FAQ's: What You Should Expect
What happens with my blood work or biopsy?
Your blood work, biopsy, or other specimen collected will be sent over to our main laboratory facility in Boise. Here we provide a wide range of laboratory services, including blood work, molecular testing, cytology, and biopsy diagnosis. Our expert team includes board certified pathologists, molecular and clinical laboratory scientists, microbiologists, cytologists, histologists, and billing and administrative specialists. Our focus is on timely and accurate lab reporting that provides needed information for you and your health care provider to make important medical decisions for your well-being.
How will I know my results?
When your lab work is complete, we will send a report with your results to your provider. Your provider will review these results and share them with you. Most questions regarding lab work will be handled by your provider. If you need further assistance, you or your provider can contact our Client Services team.
How will I be billed for lab work?
You have some options for paying for your lab work.
1 – You can pay for your lab work at the time of service. This will guarantee that you will receive our best pricing on your testing. We take all forms of credit card payments, Health Savings Account cards, cash or check. Our time of service pricing is based on the standard Medicare allowable fee schedule. There are some tests that are more expensive due to charges from other labs where we send these tests.
2 – We can bill your insurance directly as a courtesy to you. Cole Diagnostics is contracted in- network on many health insurance plans, including Medicare, Idaho Medicaid, United, Humana, Aetna, Cigna, Tricare, Blue Cross of Idaho, and Regence Blue Shield. We are currently not in network with plans administered through the St. Luke’s Health Plan network, and with some other smaller plans.
There are many reasons your insurance may not fully cover our lab charges – your provider may not be contracted with your insurance carrier, the testing may not be covered for your diagnosis, or the insurance allowable may not cover the full cost of the test. These are just a few common reasons you may receive a bill from us after we submit the claim to insurance. You will be responsible for paying for testing not covered by your insurance. Cole Diagnostics will not balance bill for excess out of network charges. If we are out of network on your insurance plan, we will adjust your financial responsibility to the standard in-network allowed price, or to our self-pay rates. If your testing is not covered, you are welcome to work with your insurance company to request reimbursement to you for your payments.
We will make every effort to accommodate financial need, including no interest payment plans. You have the option to decline any testing that you are unable or unwilling to pay for, prior to your lab draw.
